Ash Door Characteristics:
Ash heartwood varies from greyish to light brown, to pale yellow streaked with brown. The sapwood in Ash is light colored to nearly white in color. Due to its excellent shock resistance and workability Ash is a favorite wood for such things as baseball bats, hockey sticks and billiard cues. Ash finishes very well and will naturally darken to a rich light gold. It is sometimes used as a lighter colored substitute for oak in millwork wood doors.
